The Easter special very good. It was lacking any green veg but i knew that in advance and had my own veg. I'd never cooked Dover Sole before and was very grateful for Jack's video on You Tube. It really was as easy as he said and the fish was excellent. The gravadlax was top quality and the horseradish sauce very easy to whip (put my other half on to that job!) and delicately flavoured. The chocolate pave was unctuous and unbelievable rich and delicious with good instructions about how to lay it out with the crumb, the nuts and the clotted cream. The hiccups were a) the little pot of chocolate sauce had a lovely bloom of blue mould, something wrong there and b) when I filled in the feedback on the website form it was returned to me as undeliverable. These things do happen. We didn't miss the choc sauce and were pretty happy as had drunk the Veuve Cliquot by then! Since first posting this, I have been able to get my feedback through to Rick Stein and I received a very fast and courteous response with recompense made, so I am happy.
Fish soup was lovely, and the fish curry likewise although would have liked a little bit more sauce and rice. The Eton Mess was very sweet and a little bit synthetic with the vanilla sugar I’m afraid. Required more fruit. Overall a nice meal thank you.

Not only was our Rick Stein at Home Weekend Breakfast Box delicious & very high quality (I’ve never seen such lovely yellow scrambled eggs!) but DPD was amazing finding us at our remote cottage in a tiny village. This is the 3rd time I’ve purchased his breakfast box: the first two were lockdown birthday gifts for friends, and I can now say that it delivers in every way! Amazing ????
So disappointed went to Newquay waited over 20 minutes to order then the card machine wasn’t working so had to go back to the car and join the queue again waited forty minutes for burnt batter never again
Really impressed with the whole process from the communication, prompt, accurate delivery and wonderful, fresh food. Menu video was simple and fun to make. Easy to follow instructions but the food was delicious. A very special experience! We are looking forward to our next delivery!
The positive is the food box arrived at the time stated it would and the instructions of how to cook it were easy to follow, BUT we felt that lobster does not travel well as it was rather tough when cooked even though we followed the instructions to the letter. The potatoes had too many black eyes in them and the salad was disappointing especially as the dressing was only vinaigrette. Also the scallops were very gritty so they were not enjoyable. Although the dessert was very nice it was far too sweet and sickly but that is just our opinion, therefor considering the price of the food box we would not buy it again.
Scallops and lobster superb but the box was missing both the salad and the cream for the pave which rather spoilt the overall experience
All ingredients fantastic, made a great breakfast. The only issue was the bread, it was over done. Vv dark brown with bits rather black. Bread itself tasted nice but had to cut off crusts!
Great customer service in reply to this issue.
We ordered the curry. Unfortunately the flavour wasn’t delicate. It was just bland and I would not order a meal from this website again. The dessert was Eton Mess. We couldn’t have that because the vanilla sugar and cream didn’t arrive. Instead we received a tub of Parmesan. Mistakes happen but the overall experience was really disappointing and not enjoyable at all.
The bread was missing and the lobster sauce from a previous time was replaced with fish sauce so didn’t taste quite as nice. Sorry to complain
Had been booked to visit The Seafood Restaurant in Padstow at beginning of May, but cancelled due to lockdown restrictions so ordered the lobster box to ensure we didn’t miss out on the Rick Stein experience completely.
Not the same as the restaurant experience, but we made a real evening of it by setting up the table like a restaurant and getting dressed up.
The scallops and lobster were sweet and delicious and the chocolate pave was rich and indulgent. The food was really simple and quick to prepare and all very tasty indeed.
We ordered the Lobster feast over the Easter weekend for my birthday treat.
The lobster and accompaniments were great but there were a few things in the overall meal that let it down a little.
The scallops were grainy so you found yourself grinding on grit!
The sourdough bread was well past its best.
The chocolate sauce portion was so small we didn't think it would be able to portion 3 dots each on our plates for garnish.
